A Quote is an
estimate of the scope, timing, and cost of a prospective translation
project.
A quote addresses the question, “How much will this work cost and
how long will it take?” At a given time, a quote has one of the following
statuses:
- Requested. A client user requests a quote or an update to a quote.
- Pending Approval. In response to a request for a quote, the Client Manager (typically)
scopes the job and provides a quote document. The client user who
requested the quote now has to review and approve the quote.
- Approved. The client user agrees to the quote provided by the Client Manager.
- Abandoned. The quote is made inactive by either the client user (requestor)
or the Client Manager (provider).
Note: When the Client Manager saves the quote,
a dialog box prompts the users to enter a note about what was done,
along with any questions, comments, or requests. This note appears
in the Change Log at the bottom of the Quotes page, and is a way of
communicating with the next person handling the quote.
On the WorldServer side, a Client Manager can use the Requested By feature
to create a quote on behalf of a client user.

About the Quote Approval Process
If a quote is cycling through a quote-approval workflow, you can
modify its attributes without having to define an explicit workflow
action. Note that the quote status is driven by the workflow if the Set Quote Status automatic
action is included. If the automatic action is not included in the
workflow, then users with the appropriate permissions can modify the
quote status through WorldServer. For more information, see Quote Approval Process Overview.
