MultiTerm Termbases Setup

WorldServer can connect to an SDL MultiTerm server to specify one or more MultiTerm termbases to control translation vocabularies.

An SDL MultiTerm termbase is a database containing terms and term-related information. Each termbase can store an unlimited number of entries. SDL MultiTerm is a concept-oriented system. Each termbase entry corresponds to a single concept. This means that an entry contains all the terms that describe the concept, as well as any additional information associated with that concept, for example, a definition.

WorldServer has a read-only connection to MultiTerm termbases. Any termbase changes must occur from within MultiTerm itself.

Note: In practice, it helps to distinguish MultiTerm terminology databases by calling them "termbases", and shortening references to WorldServer terminology databases by calling them "TDs"

Connection Requirements

Before you start your WorldServer configuration for a MultiTerm termbase:

1) Install the MTIntegrationService appropriate to your MultiTerm Server version

2) Note the port and user credentials for this service.

Note: You will need the port and user account specified during installation to connect WorldServer to the MultiTerm server to be able to add MultiTerm termbases for use in WorldServer. Also, make sure that:
  • you have the correct MultiTerm server URL
  • on the server side, has the Groupshare MultiTerm account sa been added to all the MultiTerm termbases that WorldServer needs to access.
