Validating TD Terms and Entries

WorldServer allows you to use separate validation workflows for terms and entries in a terminology database (TD).

You set up validation workflows on the Tools > Term Databases > Term Database: <TD> page. If the validation mode of your terminology database is set to Normal or Strict, a Validate button appears on the page.

A terminology database has a validation mode assigned upon creation. The validation mode governs the way in which WorldServer handles additions or modification of term entries and terms in a terminology database. There are three possible options:

None – Adding and modifying term entries and terms requires no validation process, their status being always Approved.
Normal – New terms get a status of Approval Required. Modifying terms (text or attributes) does not change an Approved status to Approval Required. Modifying an approved term entry's attributes does not change the term entry's status to Approval Required.
Strict – New terms get a status of Approval Required. Modifying terms (text or attributes) changes an Approved status to Approval Required. Modifying an approved term entry's attributes changes the term entry's status (but not its terms') to Approval Required.
Note: Term entry and term statuses are not treated together. Therefore, changing a term entry (as opposed to a term) status to Approval Required does not have any practical effect on translation work.

By default, WorldServer validates terms in the validation workflow. You can optionally chose to validate entries. See the separate topics describing the validation workflows for terms and entries.
