Create Project - Step 1

You have already completed the prerequisite steps for creating a project.
  1. In the WorldServer Explorer, select the source assets for the project, and click Project > Create Project.
WorldServer displays the Create Project dialog box.
  2. Specify a name and description for the project.
  3. Select the target locale or locales. You only see the target locales for which linkage from the selected source is configured. If you do not have linkage configured, a project will be created for editing the source asset (instead of translating the asset to another language/locale).
For example, if you selected the folder Source1 (English locale), which is linked to TargetFR (French locale) and also to TargetSP (Spanish locale), then both French and Spanish will appear as target locales. You can select any number of target locales for the project. WorldServer creates a separate project for each locale specified. However, all projects in the same project group have the same name.
  4. Select the workgroup for the project. For example, choose Default.
  5. Choose whether to have the project include all of the assets under the selected path, or to include only the assets that are new or changed.

For a given folder, the first time you create a project, we recommend that you select All to make sure that all of the assets are initially translated.

On subsequent occasions when you create a project with these assets, you can select the New and Changed Only option. This ensures that tasks are not created for assets that have not changed.
Note: When you select New and Changed Only, you then see an Exclude Checked Out Assets option. This option, disabled by default, lets you have any assets you have checked out be excluded from the project. Enabling this option affects only connectors that support the "Checked Out" state. When the option to exclude checked out assets is applied to connector nodes that do not support this state the option has no effect on change detection.

The option persists when you change it. If you enable it for a project, the next time you create a project, it will have the setting to which you changed it.

  6. Optionally, click the Advanced button to specify additional project parameters and click OK.
  7. Click Next.
  8. Complete subsequent steps.
