By using WorldServer Explorer, you can work with assets and folders. You can add folders and assets, scope assets, and create projects. Most WorldServer users organize their work in projects and manage them from the Assignments tab. However, if you need to modify, translate, or export an asset without creating a workflow or a project, you can do so in Explorer.
We started the migration procedure for the WorldServer features that use JAVA Applets to Java Network Lauching Protocol (JNLP). Thus, when you open Explorer in a browser that does not support JAVA Applets, click the Click this link to download and launch Explorer using Java Network Launch Protocol button, go to the location were you downloaded JNLP, and then double-click the executable file. Explorer will now open using JNLP.
The JNLP application that you download and run is available for only one WorldServer session. When you log out or when your session expires, you must download JNLP once again and run it to open Explorer. Previously downloaded JNLP executable files no longer work (because they are session-specific and their sessions have expired) and you can delete them from your computer.
You can modify the use of JAVA Applet or JNLP by configuring the parameter applet.display.option=<available values are applet, jnlp and browser> in general.properties. We recommend using the browser option, which will make the browser choose whether the JAVA Applet or JNLP is used to open the Explorer page.
In WorldServer Explorer, you use the left side to navigate and the right side to select assets and folders. To select multiple assets from different folders, right-click an asset or a folder, and then click Remember Selection. Do the same for all the assets or folders that you want to select.
You can navigate to a specific asset path either by clicking through the directory structure in the left pane, or typing the path in the Asset Path box and clicking Go. You also can apply a filter to the assets that are displayed in Explorer by typing in a filter in the Filter box and clicking Apply.
After you have selected assets or folders, select the appropriate option for the action you want to carry out from the Explorer menu.
The following issues are known to exist as a result of migrating Java Applets to JNLP:
