WorldServer Explorer has menus, a toolbar and a context menu for performing asset-related functions. Menus, menu options and toolbar options vary according to your specific user privileges.
The Explorer includes the following menus:
Options for creating, viewing, deleting, uploading, downloading, locking, unlocking, and changing the properties of assets.
Options for searching, copying, and choosing how to edit an asset.
Options for managing versioned assets, including checking in, checking out, undoing a checkout, and other functions
Options related to managing projects, including scoping, creating projects and adding to projects.
In addition, WorldServer includes a context menu for some of the most common asset functions. Access the context menu by clicking the secondary mouse button after selecting a folder or asset. The context menu includes options for:
As you select assets in WorldServer, the Explorer displays the number of assets currently selected in the lower left corner of the page. This functionality can be handy, for example, to count the number of files associated with a particular project. If only a folder is selected, but not the assets in it, the status bar displays totals for all assets in the folder (size and number).
WorldServer lets you manage which columns display. You can access the Choose Columns dialog via or by right-clicking a column header. If you have a large number of AIS properties, for example, you can use the Choose Columns dialog to specify which properties display. In the dialog, you can select or deselect properties either by using the arrow or by double-clicking them. To rearrange the order of columns, drag them left or right. The Explorer remembers these settings the next time you login, including size and location of the columns.
The Explorer has two modes: standard tree browsing mode and search result mode. The second mode is enabled when a user selects the
menu then selects the “Show results in Explorer” option. In this mode the matching assets asset are listed as a table (not a tree) in the Explorer. This mode also allows you to choose which columns should be displayed. The selected column set in this mode is not the same as in the standard mode. That is, you can configure different columns to be displayed in each of the modes. The filter supports searching on AIS mount folders. For example, enter /clients/DEF Company/Quotes in the Asset Path field and click Go or press Enter.
You can filter the items displayed in the Explorer based on a wildcard pattern. You can choose which column you want to filter on. To apply the filter, select desired the column and then enter the string you want to filter on. The search is case-sensitive, and any rows that contain this substring are returned in the result. For example, if you specify "Size" in the Column field, and "2 KB" in the Filter field, the search will return all rows that contain "2 KB" (for example, it might return 12 KB, 2 KB and 232 KB; but not 20 KB).
The filter supports wildcards (*). For example, the filter "*.html" will return all files with that end in ".html." The filter "a*.txt" will return all files whose names begin with the letter "a” and end with the string ".txt." After pressing the Apply button the filter will be applied to the list of assets displayed, and the Explorer button name will be changed to Clear. Press the Clear button to clear the previously set filter and view all of the assets in the selected folder.
If you already have at least one remembered selection, you can add an asset to the remembered asset selection by right-clicking a remembered selection, selecting Add, and typing a full AIS path, rather than navigating to that location, and adding the asset using right-click and the "Remember Selection" menu.
The Asset Path location displays the last path you entered in a drop-down list when you click the down-arrow at the right side of the box. A location is added to the drop-down list only when you type the path manually and press Enter.
