Import a TM with a TMX File

You can load an external translation memory (TM) by importing a TMX file from Tools > Translation Memories. This TMX file can be a file that you exported from WorldServer as a TMX file, or it can be a third-party TMX file.

You can re-import a third-party TMX file multiple times without generating an entire new set of TM entries. If a newer version of the TMX file has been created with additional or modified entries, only the new or modified entries are imported into the translation memory.
Note: TMX is an application of XML. Both WorldServer and Studio use UTF-8 encoding for TMX.

When a TMX file is imported, WorldServer assigns its entries an Import Job ID that can be used as a filter for deleting or exporting entries. See Searching for and Replacing TM Entries for information on how you use the Import Job ID in the TM entries search result set to filter exports and deletions.

To reduce the processing times required to import a TMX, WorldServer drops the shingles table indexes at the beginning of a TMX file import and recreates them when the import is complete. Any leverage activity against that TM will be slower during the import.
