About the Microsoft Excel 2000-2003 File Type

The Microsoft Excel 2000-2003 File Type is suitable for files that have the .xls and .xlt extensions.

You can configure some aspects of SDL file types in Management > Linguistic Tool Setup > File Types.

Note: With the new version of this file type, you no longer need to have Microsoft Office installed on the machine that runs the FTS Server. If you want to keep using the deprecated version, however, you still need Microsoft Office 2007 or later (or Office 2003 with the 2007 compatibility pack) on your FTS Server machine.

To use this new file type, you need to configure it as the default file type for its corresponding extensions. You can do so by going to Management > Administration > Customization and selecting MIME types in the Custom component type list.

This file type is compatible with SDL Trados Studio 2017 SR1 CU8 or later.
