You might receive custom file types from SDL, or modify your own using the SDK. In either case, you upload them from the
Customization page, where they can be used in your translation projects.
Note the following about the file type components that appear on the
Customization page:
- File types provided by SDL usually start with the class name
com.idiominc.ws.filters.
- Custom file types appear in the list with a check box on the left and can be deleted.
- Embedded file types also appear in the list, but cannot be deleted.
- You must associate a custom file type with a MIME type on the
page before you can use it in a translation project.
See the
About File Type Configurations topic for more information about using and configuring file types. That information applies equally to custom and standard file types.
Note: Custom file types run directly on the WorldServer application machine, and not on the File Type Support (FTS) server. Some connectors, such as the SQL connector, do not permit mixing file types (which use the FTS server) with custom filters in the same mount.
