Styles page

Available options are:

Styles
Specify which text is to be excluded from translation, based on the text's style. Text that is excluded is represented by a tag in the final document. You can choose whether this tag should be a structure tag or an inline tag.
Note: Style names are case sensitive.

Common page

Available options are:

Treat special characters as inline tags
Examples of special characters are non-breaking space, tab and discretionary hyphen. You can treat these characters as text or as tags. If you treat them as tags they are put into inline tags. Em dash and en dash are always treated as text.
Extract hidden text for translation
You can extract hidden text, or ignore it.
Extract document properties for translation
Document properties include the document's author, its creation date, and so on. You can extract these properties for translation or ignore them.
Display (or skip) complex scripts and Asian text font
This has an effect only on Microsoft Windows computers that have Asian language support installed.

If Asian text font is displayed, formatting information is provided by inserting a <cf> ('control formatting') tag in the output text. A large number of such tags can be distracting for translators.

If Asian text font is not displayed, Asian elements in the <cf> tags are switched off and superfluous <cf> tags are hidden.

Include (or skip) advanced font formatting
Advanced font formatting covers such features as character spacing (tracking, kerning) and line spacing (leading). You can include advanced formatting in the translation or ignore it.
Tip: Advanced formatting is usually removed because you probably will need to reapply advanced formatting after translation, so including such formatting merely increases the number of tags displayed during translation.
Process files with tw4winMark style

Use this option to change the filters that StudioStudio uses to open Word files which have the tw4winMark style defined. Consider enabling this option if you want StudioStudio to use the Word 2000-2003 filter (for .doc files) or the Word 2007-2013 filter (for .docx files) for these files instead of using the Bilingual Workbench filter.

This is relevant if you might have Word files which contain the tw4winMark style but which are not bilingual files.

The presence of tw4winMark style in Word files usually indicates that the file is a bilingual file, produced from Trados Translator's Workbench. So, by default, when a Word document has this style, StudioStudio will not use Word filters to process the file, but will use the Bilingual Workbench filter instead.

If you disable this option (the default setting) and the Bilingual Workbench filter processes a non-bilingual file that has this style defined, the filter will produce an empty sdlxliff file with no segments.

Hyperlinks
Options are:
  • Always process hyperlinks— All parts of the hyperlink element are available to the translator, including the hyperlink itself.
  • Extract only hyperlink text— Only the visible hyperlink text is available for translation. The hyperlink is copied to the target segment but cannot be edited.
  • Never process hyperlinks—The hyperlink text is presented for translation but the hyperlink is not copied to the target segment.
Order of shapes
Choose the order to extract shapes with text. The default is Top left to bottom right by row.
Track changes extraction mode
Choose how to handle documents with tracked changes. The default setting is Ignore documents with pending changes. To work with tracked changes, choose Display pending changes. You can also choose the option Apply changes before opening.
