User and Other Roles

Before using WorldServer to manage localization projects, there are several basic building blocks of the WorldServer process that must be created, namely: users, and user types. You may also want to define vendors and workgroups.

A user is a person who will use WorldServer to perform tasks related to or supporting the translation process. A user can be an administrator, project manager, author, editor, translator, reviewer, or have some other role.

A user type is a way to categorize users by functionality and determines what features of WorldServer the user can access. User types may have multiple levels of access, based on function in the globalization process. WorldServer provides several default user types; more can be defined based on specific needs of a given process.

A vendor represents an organization that performs translation work.

A workgroup is a group of WorldServer users who are related by department or business unit, for example, marketing or sales. A workgroup is used to assign the pool of users who are available for any given project.
