This page contains the settings for SubRip File Type (*.srt files).
SubRip is the name of the subtitle file format created by the SubRip tool. SubRip files have the file name extension *.srt. This format is supported by most software video players and subtitle creation applications.
A SubRip file is divided into sections; each section has an ID, a start and an end time (used for specifying when the subtitle should be displayed) and the section text.
The SubRip File Type filter provides functionality for extracting the section text for localization and supports standard inline formatting and automatically handles line breaks in the text.
You can preview SubRip files from Studio. To see the HTML-based file preview:
Process line breaks automatically |
To address problems with losing leverage from the translation memory (as the sentences may for instance be split by line breaks) and reduce the requirement on post translation editing (when translated text is longer or shorter then source text), the SubRip File Type filter removes all line breaks by default when opening a file and adds them to the defined position when generating the translated document. You can disable this and keep all line breaks visible in the Editor. Note that this may cause issues with leveraging segments from the translation memory; hence the default is to process line breaks. |

Limit line length to: <x> characters |
You can also specify a different line length, but again, bear in mind that a small limit may cause issues with leveraging segments from the translation memory. |
