Adding a file system mount

In addition to local file systems, you can mount remote file systems for WorldServer. Remote file systems can include Windows shares (through Samba or NFS) for the File Type Support (FTS) server. For more information on FTS configuration, see the WorldServer Installation and Upgrade Guide.

  1. From the Management > Asset Interface System > AIS Mounts page, click Add.
WorldServer displays the Mount: New page.
  2. In the Generic Configuration area:
    1. Supply a descriptive name.
    2. From the Type list, select File System.
  3. Apply type-specific properties as described in the following table:
    Property Type Description
Directory path Text field The path of the file system directory, for example, c:\WSmount. The directory must already exist before you refer to it.
Versioning support Check box Specify whether the mount supports the versioning functions of Check In (create version), History (with Rollback option), and Compare Versions.
    Change detection Radio buttons:
    • Use file timestamps
    • Use file contents
You can choose to use either a timestamp or the content's checksum as a fingerprint to detect whether the file has changed. Selecting "Use file contents" prevents you from getting change detections when a file has been copied or simply touched, but requires more overhead. The default is "Use file timestamps" so your legacy configuration is preserved.
Note: If you have it set one way and change it the other way, the mount will act like all of the content has been "changed" as far as change detection goes. You should be very cautious about changing back and forth between these options.
  4. Click Save.
WorldServer returns to the refreshed Management > Asset Interface System > AIS Mounts page. You can now view your mount and content from the Explorer.
