To add a new cost model

  1. From Management > Linguistic Tool Setup > Cost Model Setup > Cost Models, click Add.
  2. Specify a name and a description for the cost model.
  3. Select the source locale, currency, and scoping configuration. The match-range columns in the Cost per Word for Segment Match Range table reflect the ranges in the selected scoping configuration.
  4. In the Cost per Word for Segment Match Range table
    1. For the first locale, enter the cost per word for Repetitions, and for each match range.
    2. To apply the same values to another locale, click Copy on the row whose values you entered, and click Paste on the row for the other locale.
Note: You can ignore rows for locales that are defined in your system but are not relevant to this cost model.
  5. In the Additional Charges and Discounts section, you can optionally add one or more line-item charges and discounts to this cost model. Each of them can include one or more cost model rules.
For information about these rules, see Cost Model Rules.
  6. In the Access Control tab, you can configure the visibility of this cost model. By default, access control is disabled (Unrestricted), meaning that every user who is in the source locale of this cost model whose user type allows access can see and use this cost model. If you select the Restricted option, the permissions selector fields appear. These permissions control what users or groups can apply this cost model to projects and assets.

The Users section configures the user access controls. In this section, you configure access permission for users in addition to those who receive permissions from the Groups section below it. In other words, users configured here are additive in relation to the group access controls.

The lists in this Users section are:
    • Available Users – A list of all available users that have not been assigned a permission.
    • View Cost Estimate Permissions – A list of users that have explicit read-only permission to the cost model data.
Note: When a user saves a cost model whose access mode is Restricted, WorldServer ensures that this user retains permission to view the information. WorldServer automatically inserts his or her name into the View Cost Estimate Permissions list, and then saves the cost model.
The Groups section contains the access control options for each supported user group. The control option settings assigned to each group in this section intersect to establish the users who have read-only permission in addition to those specified explicitly by the user assignments. There are three user group types in the Groups section:
    • Workgroups
    • Workflow Roles
    • Clients
For each group type, you can explicitly assign permissions for those groups. The authorized users for read-only permission is the intersection of users identified in each group type that is not ignored. That is, for you to have permission to view the cost model you must have the same permission in all group types that are not ignored. The relationship between the Available <group type> and View Cost Estimate Permissions controls is the same as in the Users section described above.
