Proposing a new Term

  1. In the View Term page, click the Propose Term button.
  2. In the Term Database - Propose Term Change term proposal page, fill out the details of the term, including its attributes and suggested administrative status, if any.
  3. Click Propose.

Your proposal is submitted for processing by the administrator. However, if you have changed the term and it is a previously submitted (and possibly rejected) term, WorldServer warns you with an informative message. You will see previously proposed terms (with their current processing status: Proposed, Rejected) as hyperlinks in the message.

  4. If you are warned of a previously submitted term, review the message and decide what to do.
Follow the links to see descriptions of previously submitted terms, since the information may help you decide whether to proceed. A rejected term will likely contain a note explaining the reason for its rejection. Your proposed term may be in the system already and submission at this point will introduce a redundancy. Or the previously submitted term may be a homograph conceptually unrelated to the term you are submitting.
    • If you decide to abandon the submission, click Cancel.
    • If you decide to submit the term anyway, click Propose.
