Specifying Ad Hoc Job Cleanup

A general.properties setting controls when WorldServer cleans up the segmentation data associated with ad hoc jobs. Since these jobs are created outside of project workflow, the data is not cleaned up on the same schedule as other garbage collection. Enable this setting to remove obsolete data from your database if you create translation jobs from WorldServer Explorer.

  1. Open the general.properties file with your usual editor.
  2. Search for the adhoc_asset_timeout setting.
By default this setting is not enabled, so the setting is 0 (zero) days.
  3. Change the setting to a time frame that makes sense for your environment.
If you generate ad hoc jobs and send them to translation, enter the longest expected time for the translation to be completed. A reasonable value may be 30, 45, or 60 days.
Note: Configuring this value too low will lead to problems importing ad hoc translation kits (project packages) back into WorldServer.
